Dow recently launched Luxsense silicone synthetic leather, the world's first high-end silicone synthetic leather material with unique features for transportation seating and interiors, furniture, fashion, wearables and consumer electronics specifications
.
With this material science innovation, Dow has introduced an alternative synthetic leather solution that provides comfort, health and luxury while enhancing sustainability
.
“Globally, concerns about environmental protection and animal welfare are rapidly reshaping the leather industry – especially in China, the world’s largest leather market
.
At the same time, we are finding that regular leather and current synthetic alternatives are less effective in terms of weather resistance, stain resistance The growing demands of automotive and wearable electronics have not been met in terms of sex, smell and sustainability, so we developed the Luxsense brand to meet those demands," said Jeroen Bello, global marketing director for Dow Mobility & Transportation
.
"As a global leader in silicone technology, Dow leverages the unique molecular structure of silicone to meet consumer demand for softness, moisture permeability, stability and environmental friendliness in leather
.
"
General leather is known for its soft touch and breathability, providing premium texture and comfort
.
However, it also has some obvious disadvantages, including weak UV resistance, poor crack and aging resistance, and brittleness
.
In contrast, other types of synthetic leather, while durable, have problems with dangerous, pungent odors that come from complex chemical agents that pose a threat to human health
.
The launch of the Luxsense brand supports Dow's company-wide commitment to reduce its net annual carbon emissions by another 15%, reduce net annual carbon emissions by approximately 30% by 2030 and become carbon neutral by 2050
.
Working with innovative partners to make a positive impact on society and the planet
