According to reports, CT Cosmos, a subsidiary of Nigeria's Communication Towers Ltd, recently plans to build a 70MW photovoltaic power plant
worth $150 million.
The solar project, which will be built in Plateau State, has previously received planning permission from the National Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) and is about to enter into a PPA
with Bulk Energy Purchase Nigeria.
Henry Opara, chief operating officer of CT Cosmos, expects the project to last eighteen months
.
According to estimates, the photovoltaic power plant covers about 103 hectares and should provide enough clean energy
for Plateau and its neighboring states.
The development of the plant was a private company without external government funding
.
However, the energy will be sold to the federal government and injected back into the grid to support communities in achieving cleaner energy
.
CT and German engineering giant Siemens signed a memorandum of understanding last August to launch the project and will work together to build the photovoltaic power plant
