On November 14, Covestro announced that it has signed a strategic cooperation agreement
with China's high-tech enterprise Kalai Technology.
The two parties will work together to accelerate the application and development of polyurethane composites and further strengthen market-oriented cooperation
.
According to the strategic agreement signed this time, the cooperative R&D content between Covestro and Cala Technology mainly focuses on two aspects: first, to develop polyurethane products with better performance and fully release the advantages of polyurethane materials to apply to more practical applications; The second is to further develop the application of bio-based raw materials to help the manufacturing industry achieve carbon reduction goals and promote the development of circular economy
.
Previously, the two companies jointly launched a polyurethane battery pack shell solution using the high-pressure resin transfer molding (HP-RTM) process, which was mass-produced
by mainstream power battery manufacturers.
The cooperation aims to develop the application
of polyurethane composite materials in the field of battery packs for new energy vehicles.
Covestro said that the polyurethane battery pack housing solution passed the EU REACH and RoHS certification this year, as well as China's GB38031-2020 standardized tests, and performed well
in standardized tests such as mechanical properties, acid resistance, alkali resistance, high temperature resistance and insulation performance.
Qiming Ma, Vice President of Special Products at Covestro's Customized Polyurethanes Business Unit, said: "The signing of the agreement marks the beginning of a deeper cooperation to develop cost-effective and customized polyurethane solutions
in industries such as electric vehicles, solar energy and energy storage in the future.
”
He Peng, Chairman of Kalai Technology, said: "Through the full cooperation with Covestro, the two parties have jointly developed and expanded new applications of polyurethane materials in the field of new energy vehicles, providing end customers with innovative, functional, economical and lightweight product solutions, and helping end customers gain advantages
in the market competition.
I believe that with the joint efforts of both parties in the future, more high-quality high-performance fiber composite innovative products
will be presented.
