Covestro has developed an innovative automotive headlamp concept for the automotive lighting of the future

Compared to conventional solutions, the innovative headlamp concept requires far fewer individual parts and reduces assembly steps, space requirements, cost and weight

Due to the modular design of the headlamp and the focus on a single plastic material type, the effort required to separate, sort and store materials in the recycling stream is reduced

The low- and high-beam LED modules and corresponding reflectors are made of thermally conductive polycarbonate Makrolon TC8030 and dimensionally stable Makrolon DS801, respectively

Integrated thermal management

In addition to the light source, future automotive headlights will integrate technologies such as lidar, radar and cameras

Frames made of different grades of Makrolon polycarbonate are produced using a three-part molding process
