● Designed to inspire designers with the beauty and functionality of polycarbonate
The German Design Council has announced that Covestro's CMF aesthetic palette has won its 2022 German Design Award "Excellence in Product Design - Materials and Surfaces"
.
With this aesthetic palette, Covestro hopes to inspire designers from a CMF (color, material, finish) perspective to explore the aesthetic and functional possibilities of polycarbonate
.
Developed by Covestro in collaboration with renowned designer Chris Lefteri and his design studio Chris Lefteri Design, the CMF aesthetic palette is designed to provide Covestro and its Color and Design (CMF) Center with a creative tool to facilitate collaboration with designers, CMF experts engage in heuristic communication and creative collaboration
.
Chris Lefteri said: “For designers, color palettes are the key to understanding the potential of materials, but they rarely receive the attention they deserve from material suppliers
.
The aesthetic palettes we designed for Covestro reflect what polycarbonate has to offer.
The aesthetic quality
of polycarbonate.
The shape, shape and line of polycarbonate not only show its natural transparency, but also its color and texture effect like the characteristics of glass
.
Through the interaction of the two parts, colors can be superimposed to inspire new Apply inspiration to foster dialogue between designers and Covestro
.
"
Aesthetic swatches demonstrate CMF trends on different polycarbonate substrates based on industry, application, color, texture, and functionality
.
24 popular colors and textures can help designers understand the characteristics of polycarbonate, and experience the rich color matching and 3D visual effects under different combinations
.
"We are honored and excited to receive this award
.
It is a testament to Covestro's expertise and activities in the field of CMF
.
We are a leading material supplier, but our value is not only in providing materials
.
" Dr.
Christopher Stillings, Head of the Global Color and Design Center (CMF) at Covestro's Engineering Plastics Division, said, "Through our collaboration with Chris Lefteri, we look forward to inspiring more designers and CMF experts to use poly- Carbonates create and enable more beautiful, efficient designs and inspiring products
.
"
He added: “We see designers and CMF experts as important partners for innovation, and with our capabilities from front-end trend research to back-end design applications, we look forward to working more closely with them
.
Continuous material solutions without compromising appearance and performance
.
”
The German Design Award is awarded annually by the German Design Council.
It is one of the most prestigious design awards in the world, and its influence has long exceeded the circle of experts
