AFR-IX, a submarine cable infrastructure service operator, has announced that the submarine cable system Medusa in the Mediterranean has begun to be deployed, with a total length of 8,700 kilometers, passing through 9 countries and 16 landing sites

According to reports, the Medusa submarine cable system will connect Portugal, Spain, Morocco, France, Italy, Algeria, Tunisia, Greece and Egypt
.
The system is equipped with 24 pairs of fibers, each with a design capacity of 20Tbps
.
AFR-IX said that the system will operate
with open access in compliance with relevant local rules.
According to the plan, all Atlantic and Western Mediterranean landing sites will be completed and commissioned by 2024, while the Eastern Mediterranean landing sites will be operational
by 2025.
