According to foreign media reports, Los Angeles will build a hyperloop experimental track with a total length of 1.
6km, and the start-up project is named Hyperloop Technology Technology (HTT), which will officially start construction
in 2016.
When Elon Musk first proposed to carry passengers in capsules and run at the speed of sound in the pipeline, the proposal was dismissed as utopian and shelved
.
But now people are starting to make it a reality – construction of a high-speed test track will begin next year
.
Once the technology matures, Musk believes that the 613km from Los Angeles to San Francisco will only take 30 minutes, half the time it takes to fly
.
HTT said it will build an 8km trial track
between Los Angeles and San Francisco.
The test speed was set at 322km/h instead of Musk's hypothetical 1207km/h
.
But it is still decades away from the completion of a true hyperloop transportation system
.
Many engineers have come up with a lot of mathematical and engineering unsolved problems, and only by overcoming these difficulties can the hyperloop travel safely at 1207km/h
.
The Hyperloop is designed so that capsules can transport passengers and even cars, and the low-pressure environment of the pipeline minimizes vibration and maximizes
speed.
The passenger compartment is suspended in the ducts, so the only resistance is the air ahead, which engineers in turn use to vent the air to the back of the
cabin.
Therefore, it can reach a high speed
of 1207km/h.
