According to Iran's front page report, Iran's First Vice President Jahangri, Oil Minister Sangeni and several senior officials attended the groundbreaking ceremony
.
At the groundbreaking ceremony, the vice-president said: "This project is one of the most important petrochemical projects in the country, which can activate several downstream plants and further promote the industrial development of Kermanshah province
.
The project is expected to create more than 5,000 jobs
.
The raw material of the project is natural gas, and polypropylene is produced from natural gas
.
The annual output of the plant is 660,000 tons of methanol, 120,000 tons of propylene and 120,000 tons of polypropylene
.
Iran's Oil Minister said: "The West Islamabad Petrochemical Plant is a major project with an investment of about US$600 million, which will create thousands of jobs and greatly improve the petrochemical technology level in the province
.
"After the project is put into operation, Kermanshah Province will have four sets of petrochemical facilities, and the production capacity of petrochemical products will rank third in Iran
.
The minister also said that Iran's petrochemical production from March 21, 2021, will reach 100 million tons, with revenue of $25 billion
.
