On September 19, Clariant announced that it will launch a plastic additive solution for electric vehicles at K Show in Germany to help the automotive industry safely increase battery range, improve charging performance, and enable material reuse and recycling to reduce its carbon footprint
.
Nicola Lelli, Strategic Marketing Director of Clariant Additives, said: "Clariant is working closely with downstream customers in the automotive industry chain to validate its advanced plastic additive technologies and advance their focus
on weight optimization, sustainability, recyclable materials, CO2 reduction, and performance and safety needs.
Clariant said it is stepping up research and development of sustainable plastic materials for electric vehicles, such as new applications
of the company's halogen-free flame retardants in solutions based on polyamides and other thermoplastic materials.
In addition, Clariant said that the company participated in a 3-year change project funded by the European Union aimed at developing lightweight automotive parts and improving recyclability by promoting the recycling of materials and the use of recycled polymers
