On July 12, Clariant announced that it has won an important contract from Wanhua Chemical Group to provide catalysts for its new maleic anhydride project
It is reported that the production plant currently under construction by Wanhua Chemical is one of the largest maleic anhydride production plants in the world, with a designed annual production capacity of 200,000 tons
According to reports, Clariant's SynDane catalyst is well suited for the new production process, having previously been validated in performance tests using the MAN DWE reactor
At present, China is phasing out the use of non-degradable plastics, and maleic anhydride is an important base for the production of biodegradable plastics polybutylene adipate/terephthalate (PBAT) and polybutylene succinate (PBS).
In addition, Wanhua Chemical said it has also selected another Clariant catalyst, EnviCat N2O-S, for its nitric acid plant in Ningbo to efficiently purify exhaust gas containing nitrous oxide
