    Clariant builds new high-tech production base for CATOFIN catalysts in Jiaxing

    Clariant has announced that it will build a new state-of-the-art catalyst production site in China

    The new site will be primarily responsible for the production of CATOFIN catalysts for the propane dehydrogenation process, which can be used to produce olefin products including propylene


    .


    The project is located in the Pinghu Dushan Port Economic Development Zone in Jiaxing City, Zhejiang Province.
    Construction will start in the third quarter of 2020.
    Clariant expects to start full-load production by 2022

    "We have identified the right business mix for Clariant's growth-focused strategy, so it is now critical that we invest in these high-value core specialty chemicals businesses, such as catalysts, in order to maximise their market position

    The new plant in Jiaxing will be the most digitized production site for Clariant's catalyst business to date, with advanced automation systems integrated throughout the production process

    Stefan Heuser, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Clariant's Catalysts Business Unit, elaborated on the importance of the new plant, saying: "The Jiaxing CATOFIN catalyst plant is an important part of our China strategy and further strengthens our growing commitment to China.
