At present, the key development direction of the city's chemical industry in the "14th Five-Year Plan" is mainly based on the existing industrial foundation, insisting on demand traction, focusing on the urgent needs of key industries such as automobiles, electronics, equipment, and key areas such as urban construction and residents' consumption, and vigorously developing high-tech industries.

According to the "Action Plan", Chongqing's chemical industry will focus on four aspects: building an advantageous industrial chain of synthetic materials, expanding the scale of special chemicals, improving the quality and efficiency of basic chemicals development, and cultivating and developing biochemical products

In this regard, Chongqing will improve the overall innovation capability of the industry, build a green chemical development system, implement carbon dioxide emission reduction actions, deepen the integration of information technology and industry, cultivate competitive leading enterprises, improve industry safety management and control capabilities, and optimize industrial development layout.
