On November 28, at the opening ceremony of the 41st member congress of the Chinese Chemical Society held in Beijing, the Chinese Chemical Industry Society and the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Mutual Recognition and Cooperation between Engineers of the Chinese Chemical Society and the Royal Society of Chemistry
.
This is the first time that the Chinese Chemical Industry Society has signed an international bilateral mutual recognition agreement, indicating that the engineer capability evaluation system of the Chinese Chemical Industry Society has been recognized by international counterpart organizations, which will play a positive role
in promoting the professionalization and internationalization of engineers in the field of chemistry and chemical industry in China.
Hua Wei, Vice President and Secretary-General of the 40th Chinese Chemical Industry Society, and Paul Lewis, Chief Operating Officer of the Royal Society of Chemistry, attended the signing ceremony online and delivered speeches
.
Hua Wei pointed out in his speech that the signing of this agreement can effectively promote the professionalization and internationalization of engineers in the field of chemistry and chemical industry in China, promote the transformation of scientific and technological achievements in the field of engineering and the integration of science and technology and economy, and provide strong support
for engineers to participate in the construction of the "Belt and Road" and global governance.
In his speech, Paul Louise elaborated on the importance of the international mutual recognition of engineers to the sustainable development of the global chemical and chemical industry and the realization of the purpose of the society, and welcomed
the signing of this memorandum of cooperation between the Chinese Chemical Society and the Royal Society of Chemistry based on common beliefs and standards.
In order to establish an internationally substantially equivalent engineering capability evaluation system, promote the international mutual recognition of engineer qualifications, and improve the professionalization and internationalization of engineering and technical talents, the China Association for Science and Technology established the China Engineers Federation (hereinafter referred to as the Consortium)
in 2021.
Dai Houliang, Chairman of the Chinese Chemical Industry Society, was invited to serve as the vice chairman
of the consortium.
As one of the initiators, the Chinese Society of Chemical Industry is the executive director of the consortium, responsible for leading the evaluation of engineering capabilities in the field of chemistry and chemical engineering, and promoting the mutual recognition
of engineer qualifications in the field of chemistry and chemical engineering with relevant countries and regions.
After bilateral exchanges with several countries and regions, the Society has now reached a consensus
with the Royal Society of Chemistry to carry out the pilot work of mutual recognition of substantive equivalence.
After benchmarking with the relevant documents of the Royal Society of Chemistry, the two sides unanimously recognized that the specification has equivalence in terms of engineer ability evaluation standards, processes and procedures, reaching the level of international mutual recognition and meeting the conditions
for mutual recognition of engineers.
