At 2:10 on October 13, China's first military-civilian new adjacent space platform "Yuanmeng" was successfully launched
in Xilinhot, Inner Mongolia.
Data map: From China Aviation News
This is the world's first near-space airship flight with sustained power, controlled flight, and reusability capabilities, and the first flight
to provide commercial services to corporate and individual users.
The flight was equipped with the customer's broadband communications, data relay, high-definition observation, space imaging and aerial situational awareness systems
.
As of press time, the airship is stationed and flying at a designated range at an altitude of 20 kilometers, and everything is normal
with the system.
The Dream is a huge silver airship with a volume of 18,000 cubic meters, which relies on helium buoyancy to rise into the air
.
It uses propellers with three six-dimensional motors, which are powered by solar energy after liftoff and will remain in the air for 48 hours
as planned.
"Yuanmeng" is jointly developed
by Beijing Nanjiang Aerospace Science and Technology Co.
, Ltd.
, Beihang University and Inner Mongolia Xilin Golmeng.
At the launch site, Yu Quan, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, told reporters that adjacent space refers to the area between 20 kilometers and 100 kilometers from the earth's surface, which is the junction of traditional aviation space and space space
.
Due to the influence of physical altitude and air density, traditional aircraft and spacecraft cannot fly in this space, thus becoming a very special area
between the maximum flight altitude of ordinary aircraft and the lowest orbital altitude of space-based satellites.
Relying on solar energy and continuous power, the "Yuanmeng" can autonomously and remotely control liftoff, landing, fixed-point and cruise flight, and can perform a variety of tasks
such as communication coverage and relay, earth imaging and observation.
"The biggest difficulty of the adjacent space vehicle is to ascend and stay, because the temperature difference between day and night in the adjacent space is extremely high, and the requirements for material and system control are extremely high
.
"
Lin Lixin, chairman of Nanjiang Aerospace Space, said: "The airship's capsule material is lighter and more stressed, the energy conversion rate of flexible solar cells exceeds 18%, and the avionics system is also the lightest in the
world.
