On May 17, the pressure-lifting operation of the 270,000-cubic-meter large-scale LNG storage tank at Sinopec Qingdao Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Terminal was successfully completed, and the construction of the main structure of the outer tank was basically completed

The storage tank was independently developed by Sinopec, with a diameter of 100.
6 meters and a height of 55 meters, equivalent to the size of a football field and a height of 20 floors.
It is currently the largest LNG storage tank in China
.
Compared with the previous largest LNG storage tank in China (220,000 cubic meters), the dome of the storage tank weighs about 1,500 tons, the weight of the dome is increased by 25%, and the span is increased by 6 meters, which requires very high stability during the lifting process
.
The Sinopec project team innovatively proposed the use of a new technology for dome stability analysis.
During the jacking process, a combination of infrared self-testing instrument and manual monitoring was used to precisely control the balanced force of the 30 steel cables of the dome to ensure a stable ascent
.
The lifting operation took a total of 107 minutes
.
The air pressure lifting operation is commonly known as the gas lifting operation.
It uses the principle of the closed space and the external pressure difference to slowly lift the dome structure of the storage tank from the bottom to the predetermined position on the top of the storage tank.
It is one of the key processes in the construction of LNG storage tanks.
.
Qingdao LNG Terminal is Sinopec's first LNG terminal and the only LNG terminal currently in use in Shandong Province
.
The construction of the storage tank belongs to the third phase of the project and is planned to be fully completed in 2023
.
After completion, the receiving station will have an annual handling capacity of 11 million to 14 million tons, and an annual gas supply capacity of 16.
5 billion cubic meters
