Pan Jianwei and other Chinese scientists started from the development of quantum communication network terminal equipment, low-light detection core devices, network control equipment and other products, for more than 20 years, from tens of kilometers of optical fiber quantum key distribution to free space entanglement photon distribution, from the realization of precise manipulation of single photons to the realization of eight-photon entanglement, marking China's rapid rise
in the field of quantum communication.
It is based on the accumulation of these technologies that in 2013, China's quantum secure communication "Beijing-Shanghai trunk line" project was approved by the National Development and Reform Commission

According to the plan, Beijing, Shanghai, Hefei and Jinan will respectively build metro quantum communication networks, and once the inter-city lines are connected, quantum confidential communication
with a total length of 2,025 kilometers and 8Gbps between four cities can be realized.
The construction project of the "Beijing-Shanghai trunk line" mainly includes the construction of the backbone network quantum key distribution system, the construction of a wide-area data transmission network and the construction of a local area network data communication network, passing through Beijing to many cities in Shanghai, carrying the confidential transmission of important information, and after completion, it can fundamentally solve the information security problems
