On August 25, the largest CCUS industry chain demonstration base and the first million-ton CCUS project built by Sinopec was put into operation
in Zibo, Shandong Province.
The project is divided into two parts
: Qilu Petrochemical Capture of CO2, Shengli Oilfield Utilization and Carbon Dioxide Storage.
The carbon dioxide in the tail gas of Qilu Petrochemical Industry is captured and injected into the underground oil layer of Shengli Oilfield, "driving" crude oil, and at the same time storing it on the spot, achieving a win-win
situation of carbon reduction and oil increase.
The project covers about 25 million tons of geological reserves and reduces carbon dioxide emissions by one million tons per year, which is equivalent to the emission reduction of nearly 9 million trees planted
