China has expressed interest in joining the International Solar Energy Alliance (ISA).
The Alliance is an intergovernmental alliance of 121 sunny countries whose members are located wholly or partly between
the tropics and the Tropic of Capricorn.

" Rajiv Kumar, vice chairman of India's National Transformation Agency (NITI Aayog), said
during the fifth Strategic Economic Dialogue with He Lifeng, secretary of the party group of China's National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC).

" Kumar added that the core message of the Strategic Economic Dialogue is that despite their differences, both sides must constantly and continuously focus on the possibility of
developing cooperation.
The Strategic Economic Dialogue, an important platform for discussing trade and economic issues between India and China, was interrupted last year by the Dokalam military standoff on the Sino-Indian border and resumed
this year.
In November 2015, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and then-French President François Hollande jointly launched the International Solar Alliance
during COP21.
The adoption of solar energy by ISA member countries is expected to help reduce fossil fuel use and combat climate change

The International Solar Energy Alliance became a legal entity
last December.
In March, India and France jointly launched the alliance in New Delhi, and 60 countries have signed the agreement
