Recently, Chinese manufacturer Hoymiles announced that it has supplied microinverters
to photovoltaic projects in South Africa.

The project, located in a commercial building in Johannesburg, has a 158kW rooftop system that uses the company's MI-600 inverter, which is tracked and monitored
at its module-level maximum power point.

Ellies PV Head of Solar, a local distributor at Hoymiles, said: "I am delighted to be working with Hoymiles on the Johannesburg project, the largest of its kind in South Africa to date
    .
In the future, we will continue to work closely with Hoymiles to develop ways
to help users safely build and operate high-yield photovoltaic power plants.
" Our success with Hoymiles in the South African market is a good start
    .

Ellies also assisted with system design
    .
Hoymiles said the project can now be expanded to 200kW
    .

According to the manufacturer, microinverters are gaining a huge boost in South Africa because the focus is on the level of electricity cost for any given installation, rather than a procurement process
    dominated by capital expenditures.

The project is similar to the 3.
6MW installation Hoymiles has provided in China, which is said to be the largest PV project
    in the country.
