Codelco, the world's largest copper producer, said Thursday it had reached a 36-month deal
with its union at the Salvador small-scale mine.
Codelco said the agreement does not include wage adjustments, but will include a $4,980 bonus
for each union member in addition to incentive goals.
It is reported that the agreement is supported
by 80% of union members.
As metal prices have risen sharply over the past year, labor groups have been seeking higher yields
from copper mines.
Negotiations are particularly important
in Chile, the world's largest producer of red metals.
The Salvador Copper Mine produced 56,300 tonnes of copper
in 2020.
