    On March 24, 2022, Health Canada issued consultation paper PRVD2022-05, the Pest Management Authority to re-evaluate 1-Methylcyclopropene (1-Methylcyclopropene) and its end-use products
    .

    1-Methylcyclopropene is a plant growth regulator that inhibits the production of ethylene, a plant hormone that promotes fruit ripening and senescence
    .
    When used as post-harvest (storage), 1-Methylcyclopropene is used to preserve cut flowers and fruits (apples, bananas, pears and tomatoes) and also as a pre-harvest aid for apples to delay ripening and prevent fruit drop
    .

    The public comment period for this consultation runs from March 24, 2022 to June 22, 2022
