According to the latest statistics released by the French Ministry of Ecology MTES, in 2017, France's new solar photovoltaic installed capacity was 875 MW, a year-on-year increase of 49%, so far, France's cumulative solar photovoltaic capacity exceeded 8 GW
.
French solar PV grew strongly in the fourth quarter of 2017, adding more than 394 MW of new capacity
.
That compares to 183 MW in the third quarter, 213 MW in the second quarter and just 86 MW in the first quarter of this year
.
According to statistics, about two-thirds of the new capacity, or 577 MW, comes from photovoltaic systems with a scale of more than 250 kW, while photovoltaic systems ranging from 100 kW to 250 kW account for only 44 MW.
The second largest category is photovoltaic systems with a capacity between 36 kW and 100 kW, accounting for 160 MW
.
The remaining 93 MW comes mainly from photovoltaic systems
below 36 kV.
In total, as of the end of December 2017, the cumulative installed photovoltaic power generation in France has reached 8,044 MW
.
Of these, 7,658 MW are located in mainland France, and the remaining 386 MW are installed in overseas regions
of France.
MTES also said that the total capacity of PV projects waiting to be connected to the grid was 2.
87 GW by the end of December, of which 931 MW of PV projects had been approved
by the grid.
In addition, MTES reported that solar power generation increased by 12% last year, or about 8.
6 billion kWh, which is enough to meet 1.
8% of France's electricity demand in 2017, compared to 1.
6%
in 2016.
