Telefonica, a Spanish telecommunications company, has pledged to be powered by 100 percent renewable energy by 2030 and has set new emissions targets

The company said it had now achieved its emissions, energy efficiency and renewable energy targets
set in 2020 two years ahead of schedule in 2018.
Telefonica CEO Angel Vila announced at the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP25) in Madrid that she is now committed to achieving carbon neutrality by 2050

Telefónica says it will power 85 percent of renewables by 2025 and 100 percent
by 2030.
In 2018, Telefónica accounted for 58% of electricity consumption from renewable sources, exceeding the target
of 50% for 2015-2020.
The company said it will also seek to halve its carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by 2025 and reduce them by 70 percent by 2030 until it is carbon neutral
by 2050.
Vila stressed that thanks to the company's investment in new technologies and the transformation of its network, Telefónica's energy consumption per traffic has been significantly reduced
