According to a previous report released by Middle East Energy Dubai, solar projects worth more than 55 billion dirhams ($15 billion) will be operational
across the Middle East and North Africa over the next five years.
The three-day virtual conference on renewable and clean energy will kick off on May 17 at the Middle East Energy Conference in Dubai
.
Renewable and clean energy will be featured as the theme of the inaugural Middle East Energy Show, and research by Informa Markets shows that over the next 20 years, 83 GW of renewable and clean energy capacity, mainly solar and wind, is planned across the MENA region
.
Through auction procedures, favorable financing conditions, and falling technology costs, the Middle East will be a market leader in renewable and clean energy, all of which will help bring renewable energy into the mainstream
.
In the GCC, the UAE remains a leader
in the energy transition, thanks to strong development channels.
These include the 2GW Al Dhafra solar power project in Abu Dhabi, which will eventually power 160,000 homes; and a 1.
5GW PV3 project
also located in the UAE.
In Dubai, the fourth and fifth phases of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum (MBR) solar facility are under development
.
Once completed, the MBR Solar Park will be the world's largest single-site solar installation, with a planned total capacity of 5GW
by 2030 when fully operational.
Claudia Konieczna, Director of Middle East Energy, said: "We expect renewables and clean energy to account for 34%
of total investment in the power sector across the Mena region over the next five years.
