Brazilian power company Engie Brasil Energia SA said Monday that its subsidiary, Engie Transmissao, has agreed to acquire a 100 percent stake in a company with concessions to build and operate about 1,800 kilometers of transmission lines
in Pará and Tocandins.
The company is Sterlite Novo Estado Energia
, a subsidiary of Sterlite Brazil Participacoes SA, a subsidiary of Sterlite Industries in India and Sterlite Brazil Participacoes SA.
Under the agreement, Brazilian utility Engie Brasil Energia will acquire the entire stake in Sterlite Novo Estado Energia to acquire a concession for its 1,800-kilometer transmission line
.
The purchase price will exceed $100 million, subject to regulatory conditions, including approval by Brazil's electricity regulator, ANEEL
.
In addition to 1,800 km of power lines, the concession includes the construction, operation and maintenance of a new substation in the Brazilian states of Pará and Tocandins, as well as the expansion of three other substations
.
Engie Brasil Energia said all installation licenses for the project had been issued

Construction
is expected to begin in 2020.
