According to news from Axis Energy on January 25, Brazilian petrochemical company Braskem and the Repauno port and rail terminal in Greenwich, New Jersey, announced that they will import propylene
to the east coast of the United States.
A ship arrives at Repano's new multi-purpose port terminal facility in Gibbstown, New Jersey, which is said to be the first time the region has imported such ships
in more than a decade.
The import is part of Braskem's plan to increase the supply of
propylene feedstock at its polypropylene (PP) production facility in Marcus Hook, Pennsylvania.
The Marcus Hook plant has an annual PP capacity of 415,000 tons for areas such as
food packaging and medical.
