Ultramid® Ccycled™ polymers produced by BASF in Freeport, Texas have been certified by Underwriters Laboratories (UL)
.
According to the UL 2809 Environmental Claim Verification Program (ECVP), Ultramid Ccycled grades use a variety of pre-consumer and post-consumer waste streams and can use a mass balance approach to meet recycled content standards
.
These grades offer the same performance as traditional grades without the need for adjustments to traditional processing methods, making them sustainable raw material alternatives for applications such as packaging films, carpets and furniture
.
Chris Witte, Senior Vice President, Freeport, BASF, said: "As a chemical manufacturer, we regularly re-evaluate our product portfolio and processes
.
This UL verification shows that by using recycled raw materials, we can do it in a more sustainable way.

BASF is implementing innovative chemical processes to convert some waste streams into new, valuable raw materials
.
This capability reduces greenhouse gas emissions and fossil feedstock inputs while maintaining product quality and performance
.
"Our new Ultramid® Ccycled™ grades offer the same high mechanical strength, stiffness and thermal stability as our conventional grades," said Randall Hulvey, BASF's North American Monomer Business Director
.
"In addition, they will help our customers advance their sustainable development.
