On December 16, BASF's first corporate energy storage project in China was officially launched
at BASF's headquarters in Greater China.
The new intelligent energy storage power station is located in BASF's Shanghai Pudong Science and Technology Innovation Park (hereinafter referred to as the "Pudong site") and is jointly built
by BASF and China Three Gorges Corporation Limited.
It adopts the world's leading lithium iron phosphate energy storage technology, which can store renewable energy with a total capacity of 12 MWh in a single cycle, providing a strong guarantee
for the continuous supply of green power at the Pudong base.
The energy storage power station includes four sets of 1MW/3MWh battery energy storage systems and one set of AC/DC conversion system, which can not only stabilize the operation efficiency of the power grid and ensure the stability of the base power, but also optimize the energy structure, realize the "peak shifting storage and storage" and "peak shifting and valley filling" of renewable energy electricity, and improve the comprehensive utilization efficiency
.
Bo Yang, Senior Vice President of Operations and Site Management, Greater China, BASF, said: "Energy storage technology is of great
significance for building a green energy system.
I am very pleased to see BASF take another solid step
towards exploring the energy transition.
" The new energy storage plant in Pudong will further leverage the potential of renewable energy, lead BASF's sustainable production operations, and help achieve the company's 2050 net-zero emissions target and support China's carbon neutrality goals
.
”
Zhou Jiang, Deputy General Manager of Three Gorges Investment Management Co.
, Ltd.
, said: "We are pleased to be able to contribute to the development of new energy together with BASF through this cooperation
.
In the future power system, energy storage equipment will become one of the
most important components.
We look forward to leveraging BASF's rich operational experience to promote mutual development and achieve a win-win
situation.
" ”
BASF is promoting the use of renewable energy
at its production sites in Greater China.
As one of the first BASF production sites to participate in green power trading in China, BASF Shanghai Pudong Science and Technology Innovation Park (Pudong site) completed the first cross-provincial green power trading
in China in September 2021.
At the same time, BASF's Pudong site has also built its own distributed solar photovoltaic power plants in recent years, with a cumulative installed capacity of more than 3MW, which is expected to reduce CO2 emissions by 2,595 tons
per year.
