● Laser transmissive Ultradur® enables non-destructive laser engraving on the surface of the metallic bezel
● Ultradur provides headlamps with a high-gloss finish, good processability, and low fogging and mold fouling
August 20, 2021 - BASF's well-known Ultradur® polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) series launched a new grade to help enhance the brand appeal of metallic automotive headlight bezel surfaces
.
OEMs are increasingly looking to enhance the brand image of headlamps, and this new category was developed to meet this need
.
Although BASF's Ultradur series has long been widely used in headlight components such as car light bezels and brackets, the new Ultradur 4570 HGL LT, a new laser-transmissive PBT unenhanced version, can be laser engraved on the surface of the metal-like car light bezel, making the car headlights clear and clear.
high quality logo
.
It is worth mentioning that the new grade also helps customers avoid damage to the surface of the black car light bezel during the laser marking process, while maintaining a high-gloss surface, good processability, and low fogging, low mold fouling characteristics
.
Desmond Long, global vice president of BASF's Asia Pacific Performance Materials Transportation Division, said: "BASF is concerned about the future development trend of headlights.
A wide range of Ultradur solutions are available
.
In response to the growing demand for branding of bezel surfaces, we are helping our customers (system and component level suppliers) to develop customized solutions for the end user
.
”
Although many technologies such as laser marking, printing and forming can be used for lettering on the plastic surface, laser marking is the most popular among customers
.
The main reasons are the technology's high design freedom, high processing speed, high contrast, and no additional preparation steps or rework required
.
