On October 12, BASF announced plans to increase the production capacity of synthetic ester base oils at its Jinshan site in Shanghai, China, nearly doubling the production capacity.

BASF stated that the increase in production investment aims to meet the growing demand for high-performance lubricants in the Asia-Pacific region, while at the same time further consolidating BASF's market position, providing customers with a stable supply of goods, and vigorously supporting its business development in the Asia-Pacific region.

Synthetic ester base oils are a key ingredient in high-performance lubricant formulations and have a number of sustainable advantages.
Application areas include environmentally friendly refrigeration and air-conditioning systems, automobiles, and industrial lubricants.
