● Appliance maker Delonghi uses BASF's polyethersulfone (PESU) for the production of pistons on the brewing unit of coffee machines
● Ultrason® E 3010 MR exhibits excellent mechanical strength, dimensional stability and high temperature steam resistance
● It can be easily processed and assembled into complex parts in household appliances using injection molding process
Delonghi, a home appliance company headquartered in Treviso, Italy, has selected BASF's Ultrason® E 3010 MR material for the upper piston of the brewing unit of its new coffee machine, the Magnifica Ecam 22
.
De'Longhi chose Ultrason® because it needed a piston material that could withstand the high pressure and high temperature steam that occurs during coffee making for a long time during the life of the coffee machine, and parts made from Ultrason® E could After repeated exposure to high temperature steam, it still maintains good transparency and high mechanical strength
.
Ultrason® E 3010 MR high-performance thermoplastic is approved for food contact applications in accordance with European and American specifications and does not contain any hazardous ingredients
.
This highly viscous material can be processed by injection molding – even for parts with complex geometries – such as upper pistons with elongated screws embedded in thin walls
.
Ultrason® is the trade name for BASF's family of polyethersulfone (Ultrason® E), polysulfone (Ultrason® S) and polyphenylsulfone (Ultrason® P) products
