BASF Cellasto celebrates production milestone in North America

BASF recently produced its billionth Cellasto part at its Wyandotte, Michigan facility

BASF started producing Cellasto components in North America in 1986

This year, BASF is also celebrating the 60th year of its global Cellasto production
.
These parts are made from microcellular and dense polyurethane elastomers and are sold to the automotive industry and its suppliers

In a July 22 press release, a BASF spokesman said that 85 percent of automakers today use Cellasto components
.

Bjoern Kophstahl, global vice president of Cellasto, said in a press release: "On our 60th anniversary, we have reached the 1 billion-unit mark in North American sales, which speaks to the dedication of our employees and the quality of our production facilities

He added that BASF "will continue to work hard to use the latest technology to produce innovative, high-quality products to meet the needs of our customers and achieve our next milestone

The first Cellasto parts produced by BASF in North America are microcellular polyurethane bumpers for automakers

The company now produces a variety of off-the-shelf components that "contribute to the driving experience by improving durability and providing a smooth, quiet ride," officials said

Cellasto components are also used in several other industrial and non-automotive applications, such as elevator bumpers, washing machine isolators, and high-speed printer labelers
