BASF builds new alkylethanolamine plant at its Antwerp site

BASF is building a new world-scale production plant for alkylethanolamines at its Verbund site in Antwerp, Belgium
.
With the planned start-up in 2024, the global annual capacity of the company's alkylethanolamine portfolio, which includes dimethylethanolamine (DMEOA) and methyldiethanolamine (MDEOA), will increase by nearly 30% to more than 140,000 tons per year
.
Through a high degree of local backward integration, BASF ensures the reliability and sustainability of alkylethanolamine production
.
With production facilities in Ludwigshafen, Germany, Antwerp, Belgium, Geismar, Louisiana, USA, and Nanjing, China, BASF is one of the world's leading producers of alkylethanolamines
.

The multifunctional alkylethanolamines are mainly used as precursors of flocculants in water treatment and as binders for pigments and resins in the coatings industry

Other applications include gas treatment, fabric softeners, metalworking fluids and polyurethane additives

With around 300 different amines, BASF has the most diverse portfolio of such chemical intermediates in the world

In addition to alkyl, alkanol and alkoxyamines, the company also offers heterocyclic and aromatic and specialty amines

The series is completed by an ever-expanding portfolio of chiral amines of high optical and chemical purity
