Baker Hughes: The number of drilling rigs in the United States increased to 448

According to a report from the Oil & Gas Journal website on May 7 by Baker Hughes, the number of drilling rigs in the United States increased by 8 units to 448 units as of the week of May 7th, compared with 374 units in the same period last year.

The number of land rigs increased by 8 from last week to a total of 434; the number of offshore rigs remained unchanged at 13.

The number of US petroleum directional drilling rigs increased by 2 to 344, compared with 292 in the same period last year.

Among the major oil and gas producing states, Texas saw the largest increase in the number of drilling rigs, increasing by 5 to 217.

Louisiana increased by 3 to 52.

Pennsylvania and Utah each added one, and the number of drilling rigs reached 19 and 9 respectively.

The number of drilling rigs in California decreased by one to six.

The number of rigs in eight states remained the same this week: 70 in New Mexico, 21 in Oklahoma, 15 in North Dakota, 11 in West Virginia, 10 in Colorado, 10 in Ohio, and 4 in Wyoming.

The number of Canadian rigs increased by 4 to 55, 29 more than the 26 in the same period last year.

Baker Hughes: US rig count up 8 units to 448

The US drilling rig count increased by 8 units to reach 448 rigs working for the week ended May 7, according to Baker Hughes data.

The number of rigs drilling on land was up 8 units week-over-week with a total of 434.

US oil-directed rigs were up 2 rigs from last week at 344 units.

Of the major oil and gas-producing states, Texas saw the largest increase.

Louisiana gained 3 rigs to reach 52 rigs running for the week.

Pennsylvania and Utah gained a single rig each to reach 19 and 9 rigs running, respectively.

　　California dropped a single rig, ending the week with 6 rigs working.

　　Eight states remained unchanged this week, namely New Mexico, 70; Oklahoma, 21; North Dakota 15; West Virginia, 11; Colorado, 10; Ohio, 10; Wyoming, 4; and Alaska, 3.

　　Canada's rig count increased by 4 units to 55 rigs drilling for the week.
The count is 29 more than the 26 units drilling this week a year ago.
At 22 units, Canada's oil-directed rig count is up 2 units for the week.
The gas-directed rig count in Canada is up 2 units to 33.
