Austrian plastic packaging giant Alpla Group has chosen to build a new 23,000-square-meter manufacturing facility in the Kansas City area
.
This is a key factor in its commitment to expanding its injection molding capabilities, the company said in its announcement on the 28th
.
As one of the global leaders in packaging solutions, the facility will expand the scope of Alpla's innovation and help meet near-term business needs, the company said
.
The new facility at Blue River Business Center in Kansas City, Missouri, will be its fourth site in Missouri and the first dedicated to injection molding
.
Cutting-edge technology will be used to produce innovative packaging systems, bottles, caps and injection moulded parts for a range of industries
.
Led by Cushman & Wakefield, the project is expected to begin in late 2021 and complete in the fourth quarter of 2022
.
The factory is expected to create 75 jobs as the company continues to invest in the city over the next few years
.
"Alpla's decision to grow in Missouri demonstrates our state's ability to support companies with a highly skilled workforce, affordable business costs and unmatched logistics advantages," said Governor Mike Parson,
noting the Kansas City area's central location and strong 's community relations were a key driver of this decision
.
Alpla has 178 factories in 45 countries and employs about 21,600 people
.
In addition, the company has PET and HDPE recycling plants in Austria, Poland, Mexico, Italy and Spain
.
