Engineers at automotive soft trim supplier Auria Solutions have today developed a lightweight acoustic material and have been awarded a contract for GM's global T1x full-size pickup truck and S.
The key to this material is to replace the traditional ethylene-vinyl acetate used for instrument panel insulation with multi-layer fiber material technolo.
The new fiber insulation was developed at Auria's R&D center in Albemarle, North Carolina, which has a long history of research and development in textiles and carpe.
Not only does it save 13 pounds per GM vehicle, it's also easy to machi.
Brian Pour, CEO of Auria, said in an interview with the media that the sound insulation materials developed and produced by Auria were well-known in the automotive industry, but now this new material is expected to replace old products and help OEMs achieve lighter vehicl.
