Atlas Renewable Energy announced that it has signed a long-term financing agreement
with El Banco de Comercio Exterior (Bancomext) for a 129.
5MW PV project in Atlas, Mexico, Hidalgo.
As part of the transaction, Bancomext will provide $88.
5 million to fund construction installations, as well as a $17 million value-added tax (VAT) credit line
.
Atlas' solar project has signed a power purchase agreement
with Mexico's federal utility Federal Electricity Commission (CFE).
CFE received this PPA
through Mexico's first long-term energy auction.
The project is expected to begin operations
in the second quarter of 2019.
Once operational, the project will cover more than 410 hectares and will generate 300 GWh of electricity
per year.
"The Guajiro PV project positions Atlas Renewable Energy as a reliable partner
for investment and infrastructure development in Mexico's energy sector," said the General Manager of Bancomext.
The project contributes to the goal
of generating 35% of Mexico's energy from renewable sources by 2024.
