Asahi Kasei said recently that its subsidiary South Korea Tongsuh Petrochemical (TSPC) plans to partially use biomass propylene feedstock to produce acrylonitrile (ACN) in February this year
.
TSPC is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Asahi Kasei.
The company's acrylonitrile products obtained the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) PLUS certification on October 21 last year as sustainable products
.
"In order to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, measures to reduce CO₂ emissions in the fossil fuel-derived product chain are increasing, and acrylonitrile customers are also seeking to manufacture products using low-CO₂-emitting acrylonitrile to reduce greenhouse gas emissions
.
" Asahi Kasei said.
.
It is reported that TSPC can currently produce 600,000 tons of acrylonitrile per year in Ulsan, South Korea
