Arkema has announced its proposed acquisition of South Africa's Permoseal, one of the leaders in adhesive solutions for woodworking, packaging, construction and DIY
.
Its well-known brands, including Alcolin®, and a broad range of high-performance adhesive solutions, will complement Bostik's offerings in the region, strengthening its position in the dynamic industrial, construction and DIY markets of South Africa and sub-Saharan Africa
.
Permoseal offers a large portfolio of technical and sustainable solutions for packaging as well as wall and floor preparation, renovation and waterproofing
.
With its well-known brands, Permoseal has a strong presence in South African retail chains and is the exclusive distributor for the Bostik® and Evo-Stik® brands in the region
.
The company's 2021 sales are expected to be 44 million euros and it has two production plants in the country
.
With this proposed acquisition, Bostik will significantly strengthen its presence in the DIY adhesives sector in South Africa, where the Bostik® and Den Braven® brands are already well established
.
The complementarity of the product portfolio will allow Bostik to expand its customer offerings in the South African construction market and continue to expand in the region, particularly benefiting from the strong growth in demand in the building renovation market
.
The project will also allow Bostik to strengthen its position in packaging adhesives and expand its sustainable solutions for the industrial sector in the South African market
.
This tailor-made acquisition is in line with the growth strategy of the Group's Adhesive Solutions division and provides a number of development synergies
.
The project, subject to approval by antitrust authorities, should be completed in the second quarter of 2022
.
