According to Canalys, a world-renowned technology market analysis and consulting international company, Apple's share of China's smartphone market declined in the second quarter of 2017, and the iPhone's dominance in China was weakening
.
Apple's shipments in China fell to fifth, and its dominance weakened
Local brand Xiaomi ranks fourth, while Apple can only rank fifth
.
Of course, Samsung is also among the top ten smartphone brands
in China.
Konass released the top four smartphone brands in China in the second quarter (ranked by shipment):
Huawei: 23 million
Oppo: 21 million
Vivo: 16 million
Xiaomi: 15 million
Apple did not give sales of individual products in each region, nor was it immediately available for comment
on the report.
Earlier this year, however, a report by Counterpoint Research found that the iPhone was no longer the sales champion in China's smartphone market in 2016, the first time Apple fell out of first place
since 2012.
Konass noted that the top five brands accounted for 75%
of China's 113 million shipments in the second quarter.
In recent years, Apple has faced increasingly fierce competition, and sales in the second quarter fell 14%
year-on-year.
Despite the fierce competitive environment brought about by the WeChat software ecosystem, Apple CEO Tim Cook expressed long-term optimism
about the Chinese market.
Some analysts predict that the upcoming iPhone 8, which marks the iPhone's tenth anniversary, will restore Apple's influence
in China.
FactSet Research expects Apple's sales in Greater China to reach $9.
96 billion in the third quarter of this year, up significantly
from $8.
79 billion in the same period last year.
