According to foreign media reports, Samsung and Apple are the world's first and second largest smartphone manufacturers, respectively, but the two have completely different
approaches in attracting users.
Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018 will kick off next Monday in Barcelona, where many of the world's largest smartphone brands will take advantage of the event to showcase their latest products
on the world stage.
Apple is known to usually skip MWC, while Samsung is customarily showing off its latest flagship Galaxy S9 model to get the most attention
.
Interestingly, Samsung and Apple have taken diametrically opposed approaches
to the smartphone market.
Apple's model of launching new models and focusing on the high-end market is absolutely minimalist, while Samsung launches a large number of new machines every year, so the sharp contrast can be seen
from the figure below.
At the same time, it can be seen that Chinese mobile phone manufacturers Huawei, Xiaomi, vivo and OPPO are also similar to Samsung, launching more than 10 new models, while LG, Lenovo and HTC launched a significant decrease in the number of new machines in 2017 compared with the previous year, focusing on fewer models
.
According to GSMArena mobile phone database data, the chart shows that the five major smartphone brands, including Samsung, released significantly fewer phones last year than in
2016.
