APPEA, the national body representing Australia's oil and gas exploration and production industry, said Federal Labor's proposal to permanently control Australia's LNG exports would not reduce long-term domestic gas prices

APPEA said in a statement on Monday that more regulation and political uncertainty could discourage investment in new gas supplies, which means higher prices
are needed over time.
"Like manufacturers, natural gas producers compete in tough global markets and understand the pressures to
remain competitive.
However, trying to regulate prices does not solve the real problem – rising costs of producing gas in Victoria and New South Wales and tight local supplies
