Amcor plans to expand its global network of innovation centers by building two more innovation centers in Ghent, Belgium and Jiangyin, China
.
The $35 million centers will open in mid-2022 and expand over the next two years
.
They have expanded Amcor's reach to now include flagship innovation sites in Wisconsin and Michigan, USA, as well as smaller sites around the world
.
The wider network will be able to provide the company's materials science expertise and packaging development capabilities to customers around the world
.
"Our innovation centers have become trusted destinations for some of the world's largest brands as they work to improve product sustainability and the overall consumer experience,
" said Peter Konieczny, Amcor's chief commercial officer.
These centers will include: immersive customer experience facilities to generate consumer insights, co-creation sessions and rapid prototyping; advanced analytical and materials science laboratories; dedicated pilot production facilities; Experimentation without impacting customer production; and packaging recycling and composting technologies for multiple materials
