Covestro has appointed Albis as the distributor for its new range of renewable resources
.
Products in the new portfolio include sustainable products that correspond to Covestro's existing range of fossil-based resins, including Makrolon, Bayblend and Makroblend
.
As an ISCC Plus certified company, Albis is one of the first distribution partners for the new product portfolio on the market
.
Achim Gustorf, Vice President, Engineering Plastics Distribution, EMEA at Covestro, said the two companies are long-term partners and have jointly launched many highly innovative solutions
.
"We believe that now we will start a new chapter together with our brand new RE product range as part of a more sustainable portfolio that we sell through ALBIS
.
"
The products in Covestro's new renewable energy portfolio are produced using the biomass balance method and powered by renewable energy
.
As a result, the new Makrolon RE, Bayblend RE and Makroblend RE have a significantly lower carbon footprint than their fossil-based counterparts, reducing resource consumption and promoting the use of alternative materials
.
According to a recent life cycle assessment, selected Makrolon RE products have a zero carbon footprint, making them the world's first climate-neutral polycarbonate
.
These new materials are designed as ready-to-use solutions to help plastics manufacturers and brand manufacturers around the world achieve their sustainability goals
.
Their physical, mechanical, thermal, optical, weatherability and processing properties are identical to traditional fossil-based resins
.
Importantly, regulatory lists for traditional products (such as healthcare certifications, flammability ratings, etc.
) are also valid for corresponding renewable energy alternatives
.
Albis is one of the world's leading distribution companies of technical thermoplastics and thermoplastic elastomers
.
With 24 locations and 450 employees worldwide, the company is headquartered in Hamburg, Germany, with a strong presence in Europe and a growing presence in EMEA and Asia Pacific
.
