Recently, Akuo Energy, a French independent renewable energy power generator, announced that it has begun construction of a 17MW floating solar project
in Piorunque, Vaucluse, southeastern France.
The mayor of Piorank said, "The finalization of the project is the result of years of fighting with the authorities to convince them of the value
of this pioneering floating solar power plant.

The 17-hectare project will provide electricity
for the equivalent of 4,733 homes once operational.
It will include 47,000 solar modules

It will also feature the latest generation of Hydrelio floating structures
from French floating photovoltaic specialist Ciel & Terre.
Akuo Energy is the manufacturer and exclusive distributor
of Hydrelio products in France.
The project will also be built
by full-package provider Bouygues Energies Services.
Akuo Energy has opened up funding for the project to the local people

Therefore, the municipality of Piorunk decided to invest together with local residents in order to obtain the profitability
of the project.
President and co-founder of Akuo Energy added, "For Akuo Energy, this project is the first floating solar power plant

It is understood that Natixis Energeco provided 12.
8 million euros in financing
for the project.
According to Akuo Energy, this makes it the first bank
in France to offer non-recourse financing to floating PV plants.
