Recently, French power producer Akuo Energy has been commissioned by Indonesia to build three solar energy storage microgrid projects
.
The projects will provide electricity
to the villages of Merabu, Long Beliu and Teluk Sumbang in Indonesia.
It is understood that after signing a cooperation agreement with Millenium Challenge Account (MCA) Indonesia established by the Indonesian government, Akuo Energy began work
on three projects in December 2016.
These projects, which combine photovoltaic systems and lithium-ion batteries, will benefit villages
located in Indonesia's remote Berau region.
The three villages have a combined population of only 460 households and are mainly made up of
fishermen, laborers and farmers.
According to the project leader, the installed capacity of photovoltaic power generation is 1.
2 MW and the capacity is 2.
1MWh, and the three microgrid projects can provide reliable solar power energy
24 hours a day.
Before these microgrid projects were developed, the villages could only use electricity
produced by diesel generators.
In addition, high fuel costs mean that paying for these generators accounts for 30%
of the villagers' monthly income.
President and co-founder of Akuo Energy said, "This project is at the heart of
Akuo Energy's mission and values.
The three Indonesian villages will gradually achieve green electrification
.
We help isolated villages to obtain basic needs in terms of the environment and begin the industrialization phase
of the solution mix.
We look forward to the early completion of these projects to bring convenience
to these villagers.
