According to Energy News, October 11, Air Products, a leading global hydrogen supplier, today announced that its new liquid hydrogen plant at its Laporte, Texas facility has been put into operation to meet the growing demand of
multiple customer markets.
The new Laporte liquid hydrogen plant produces approximately 30 tons of hydrogen per day and will extract hydrogen for liquefaction from Air Products' existing Gulf Coast hydrogen pipeline network, the world's largest hydrogen
plant and pipeline system.
Francesco Maione, president of Air Products Americas, said: "We are investing in this new liquid hydrogen production facility in Texas to demonstrate our commitment to our customers and help meet current and future needs
.
The increase in new capacity will also allow us to target growth in several markets, namely hydrogen
in the mobile market.
The location and operational advantages of the Laport plant provide us with numerous supply options
.
We look forward to providing this new and reliable source of liquid hydrogen, which is important
for manufacturing and other businesses in several states.
" ”
Maione added that Air Products also plans to build a green liquid hydrogen production facility in the southwest of the United States, which will produce liquid hydrogen and sell it to California and other mobile markets
that require zero-carbon hydrocarbon fuel.
