The industrial gas giant said it has been selected by Daimler Trucks to develop a new refueling system based on existing technology.
Daimler Trucks will install the system at its test site.
Since the energy density of liquid hydrogen is higher than that of gaseous hydrogen, its use can double the mileage and capacity of heavy long-distance trucks (1.
Air Liquide said in a statement that by supplying Daimler trucks, the company is supporting the decarbonization of long-distance heavy road transportation, and liquid hydrogen is a particularly suitable solution.
This collaboration demonstrates Air Liquide’s ability to support its customers by providing innovative solutions for a more sustainable world.
At the same time, the company will support the development of a new open global liquid hydrogen fueling standard in a large industrial working group.

Air Liquide will supply liquid hydrogen and an enhanced refuelling system to refuel Daimler's prototype heavy-duty trucks.
The industrial gas giant today (May 17) said it has been selected by Daimler Truck for the effort, under which it will develop a new refuelling system based on existing technology.
Daimler Truck will house the system on its testing sites.
As the energy density of liquid hydrogen is higher than that of gaseous hydrogen, its use could double range and capabilities for heavy-duty long-haul trucks (between 1.
"By supplying Daimler Truck, Air Liquide is supporting the decarbonisation of heavy-duty road transport over long distances, for which liquid hydrogen is a particularly suitable solution," Air Liquide said in a statement.
"This engagement illustrates Air Liquide's ability to support its customers by offering innovative solutions for a more sustainable world.
In parallel with this project, Air Liquide will support the development of a new open and global liquid hydrogen refuelling standard together in a large industry working group.
