Through the acquisition of Solvay's polyamide business, BASF has acquired new processes, technical expertise, and advanced materials and component testing capabilities, which in one fell swoop strengthens its R&D capabilities in the Asia-Pacific region

Next, BASF plans to integrate Solvay's R&D centers into its existing R&D facilities in Shanghai and Seoul to further enhance BASF's position as a solutions provider developing advanced material solutions for key industries

Having UL-certified testing capabilities greatly simplifies the certification process and reduces time-to-market for flame retardant products

Diverse component testing

BASF has expanded its component testing capabilities in Shanghai, adding a total of eight tests including three comprehensive vibration test benches, pressure blasting test benches, coolant circulation test benches, oil and gas separation test benches, and stone impact test benches

In addition, BASF can now use its extended testing expertise to evaluate finished components

Material evaluation expertise to dissect special properties

The upgraded facility allows for in-depth analysis and evaluation of material-specific properties, such as resistance to heat, oil and coolant aging
