The Asian Development Bank recently announced a US$45.
44 million financing
loan for an off-grid solar photovoltaic and water irrigation system in Bangladesh.
With this funding, ADB estimates it will help Bangladesh install at least 2,000 PV pump systems, which could offset 17,261 tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions
per year.
In addition to photovoltaic systems, funds will be used to carry out awareness-raising activities, including seminars
on the installation and operation of photovoltaic water pump systems.
ADB said it will provide technical and skills training to support women's job opportunities
.
Financing options include a loan of $20 million as part of ADB's Power System Efficiency Improvement Project and an additional $22.
44 million from the Renewable Energy Expansion Program for Low-Income Countries under the Strategic Climate Fund, with the remaining $3 million from the Output-Based Aid Clean Energy Fund
